Stone Chip Flooring in Cape Town

A hard-wearing, long-lasting floor finish with visible stone set in your choice of pigmented cement.

Stone chip floors combine small pieces of natural stone with a pigmented cement base. Once the surface is finished, the stone is exposed and you get a speckled, textured look that is both decorative and very tough. You choose the colour of the cement, so the floor can be subtle or make a statement.

This finish is made for areas that take a beating. It handles heavy foot traffic well and copes with the sand and grit that come into many Cape Town homes. That makes it a practical choice for entrances, patios, kitchens and family rooms, and it also works well on counter tops.

We prepare the base properly, apply the stone chip mix and seal the finished surface to make it easier to clean. Our work is backed by a 2-year guarantee. Book a free consultation to talk through stone and colour options for your floor.

Stone Chip Floors FAQs

Is stone chip flooring slippery?

The exposed stone gives the surface some texture, but the level of grip depends on the finish and the sealer used. For wet or outdoor areas a less glossy sealer or an anti-slip additive can be used. We will recommend what suits your space.

How do you clean a stone chip floor?

Sweep or vacuum to remove grit, then mop with warm water and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid acidic and abrasive cleaners. Resealing from time to time helps keep the surface protected.

Can stone chip be used on counter tops?

Yes. Stone chip works on counter tops as well as floors. Like any cement-based surface, it should be sealed and spills such as wine, oil or lemon juice should be wiped up promptly.
