Off-Shutter Concrete Finishes in Cape Town
A modern, raw concrete look for walls, ceilings, floors and counter tops that gives your home a clean industrial feel.
Off-shutter concrete gets its name from the surface left behind when the shuttering, or formwork, is stripped from cast concrete. The result is a raw, honest grey finish with natural variation in tone. It suits modern architecture and brings an industrial edge to both new builds and renovations.
We apply off-shutter style finishes to walls, ceilings, floors and counter tops, inside and out. On a feature wall, a façade or a kitchen island, the subtle clouding and texture add depth that flat paint cannot match. It also pairs well with timber, steel, glass and plenty of greenery.
Every surface is prepared properly first and the finish is sealed to help protect it. With over 15 years in decorative walls and floors, we can help you decide where a concrete look will work best in your home. Book a free consultation to see what is possible.

Off-Shutter Concrete Finish FAQs
What is an off-shutter concrete finish?
It is the exposed concrete surface left after the shuttering (formwork) is removed from cast concrete. The term is also used for decorative finishes that recreate that raw concrete look on existing walls, ceilings and other surfaces.
Can I get an off-shutter look on an existing brick or plastered wall?
In most cases, yes. A decorative cement-based finish can be applied over a sound, properly prepared wall to create the look of off-shutter concrete without casting new concrete.
Is an off-shutter concrete finish suitable for exterior walls?
It can be, provided the wall is sound and the right products and sealer are used for outdoor exposure. Coastal and very exposed walls may need extra attention, so we advise on this once we have seen the site.
